    • hi.

      im using wireless adapter singtel 2wire. one desktop pc and one wireless laptop. how do i transfer file from laptop to desktop pc?

      i try to type \\pcname or \\ip_address, it does not let me access. anything that i miss out here?

      which OS u using?

      basically, for windows, you'll need to have "File and Printer Sharing" in your network connection properties (although I seem to recall last time don't need to have this but can still transfer file from 1 pc to another confused.png).

      Then you need to assign one folder as assessible by other users (i.e can write/save to that folder)

      something like that lah... tongue.png biggrin.png

      Which step u don't understand? Ask and the experts lurking around will fill u in...

    • desktop is WINDOWS 2000, laptop is WINDOWS XP.  i have got "FILE and PRINTER SHARING" enabled. but how come my desktop stil cannot access my laptop?

      yeah i share several folders in my laptop.

      can your desktop "see" your notebook in network neighbourhood and vice versa?

      remember to set ur static IP.

    • my ip is auto assigned by the 2wire router. i can ping each other. i cannot see the laptop in my neighbourhood and vice versa.

      must they be in the same workgroup??

      I presume U know what U are doing when U say the 2 systems can ping each other...cos I dunno if U end up pinging both systems to the router instead.

      And have U checked if the router has any firewall installed?

      I usually work with domains so I am not familiar with the concept of workgroup...but in any case...changing of workgroup is not difficult mah...just change it to a oxymoron one like WORKGROUP for both systems and try it out....
